Sardinian Bites & Sights: A 7-Day Gourmet Escape

Travel memory

In September 2024, a group of passionate food lovers embarked for an unforgettable 7-day culinary journey through Sardinia, exploring its rich tradition, flavours and landscapes. Highlights included hands-on cooking classes, wine and cheese tastings, visits to local markets, and shared meals that celebrated the Sardinian culture. More than a food tour, it was an immersive experience into the island’s history, hospitality, and way of life.

Why September is Magical for Food Lovers in Sardinia

September in Sardinia is a Slow Food lovers paradise—where the land, sea, and people all offer their richest flavours and warmest welcomes. It’s when ancient tradition meets peak produce and hearfelt hospitality.

Many Sardinian cheeses (like pecorino sardo, fiore sardo or even the controversial cazu marzu) are in perfect maturing stage in September. The harvest season also begins especially for the grapes and late-summer produce. Also think roasted suckling pig (porceddu) handmade culurgiones, seadas with local honey, and pane caracau.
